• What is TexFinder?
TexFinder is a powerful and accurate tool to search and replace text or files name inside entire folders.
Originally designed for HTML masters, TexFinder is able to meet everybody's need:
- Want to replace the string ".jpg" suffix by ".JPG" only in the BBEdit files of an entire folder?
- Want to search all non-standard ASCII in a very easy way?
- Need to remove all control characters from hundred files?
- Need to replace all accented characters by non-accented characters in a single pass?...
Then TexFinder can help you!
• Main Features
- Search and replace text in entire folders with the ability to filter desired files.
- Search and replace files names or file creator code in entire folders.
- Search and replacement can be case sensitive or not.
- Replacement tables allow to replace multiple strings of characters in one pass.
- Ability to create on the fly backup copy of files before string replacement.
- All the search and replacement results are stored in different tapes for easier file management.
- Ability to refine your search and replace on the found files.
- All results are printable.
- Easy to use with its friendly interface and its intensice use of drag and drop
- Main features are AppleScriptable.
• Limitations
- TexFinder only searches and replaces strings of characters inside text files (those who have "TEXT" finder type). So if you want to work with MS Word files for example, you will have to first save them as text-only files.
- For internal safety reason, TexFinder doesn't manage files bigger than 1 Mb.
- TexFinder doesn't resolve aliases.
• Warning
- a text replacement often modifies the styled text of the document (bold, italic, underline, etc...)
• Requirements
- Any PowerPC Macintosh with 4000 Kb of free RAM. 6500 Kb of free RAM will be needed to manage large text files.
- System 7.6 or greater.
